Once Upon A Time, a pop-rock band from Phoenix, Ariz., took the time to do a quick little interview with us here at Creative Control. We hadn’t heard too much about these guys, so we wanted to take some time to throw some new music your way.
Creative Control: Who is Once Upon A Time?
Once Upon A Time: Once Upon A Time is Andrew Long (vocals), Jamie DiCarlo (guitar),
Keaton Leander (guitar), Mark Miller (piano), Bryan Wong (bass), and
Nate Ray (drums).
CC: How did you guys meet?
OUAT: Andrew and Jamie met in a musical theater production a few years ago.
The show was called Honk!, which is basically the Ugly Duckling story.
Andrew played the Ugly Duckling and Jamie was his father. Keaton and
Mark went to school with Andrew and Bryan and Nate went to school with
Jamie. From there, the rest of the pieces fell into place.
CC: What made you decide to start a band?
OUAT: We love writing and performing. But more than anything, we love the
idea that our music can have a positive influence on kids throughout
CC: What do you hope fans get out of your music?
OUAT: Honestly, we just want to make our fans smile. We try to write catchy
songs that still have lyrical substance. We’re normal kids writing
about normal kid things.
CC: For this last part, just discuss anything you’d like to talk about.
Maybe think of something you like hearing about other musicians and
talk about that. Anything you want to talk about is free game!
OUAT: If there’s any advice we can offer, it’s be yourself. That’s what
makes you special. If you’re lucky enough to be different, don’t ever
change to be the same.
