AT&T Park hosted Vans Warped Tour for a sold out San Franciscan crowd. (And I mean really sold out, as in, how in the world did they manage to fit that many people in one area?)
Seriously, the folks over at Vans considered selling a few more tickets at the gate, but it was super crowded. Before it got too packed, I was able to get a shot of Four Year Strong.
Overall, it was a terrific day. The bands had so much energy and were really getting the crowds psyched, even toward the end of the day when everyone was tired, sunburned & thirsty. I’m ready for next year’s tour. In preparation, here are some tips if you go out to the festival this year (and you really should):
1). Protect! Lather up before you arrive and take some with you in a small backpack to reapply throughout the day. It gets BRIGHT out there. It’s also a good idea to take some lip balm with SPF.
2).Stay hydrated! This year you’re allowed to bring in one sealed water bottle. The Klean Kanteen folks are providing FREE filtered water for you to refill. So, take one and save a few bucks & bottles along the way. (They’re also selling some of their stainless steel bottles at the Warped shows).
3). Wear comfy shoes. This seems like a no-brainer, but you’ll be on your feet for the entire day. You don’t want to duck out early because your feet hurt, do you?
4). Charge your phone before you leave so you can follow Vans Warped Tour on Twitter. You can find out where to get some free swag, which/where/when bands are doing signings and any other important info for the day of the show.
5). Take a marker/pen & paper. The giant inflatable has all the bands performance times listed & it’s a good idea to write all that down so you don’t have to keep running back and forth between the stages and the inflatable. (Plus, it might be a good idea to have a Sharpie if you get to some of the signings).
6). Walk around! I had some down time in between FYS and New Found Glory, so I walked around, grabbed a quick lunch and checked out all the tents and other stages. It’s a great time to check out the bands you haven’t heard before. It’s always fun to learn about some new music! Alternative Press is giving out free guides to some of the bands playing the tour this year at their tent, so you can find all kinds of cool stuff like that.
You can check out the Warped website for general information, where to get tickets, which bands are playing certain dates and guidelines to follow about what to bring.
