The Rosy Shades – Morning Spirits

The Rosy Shades find their roots in a classic ’60s and ’70s rock ‘n’ roll vibe. They’ve got a polished and produced sound, but still have the feel of an alt/rock/indie band. They’ve got some folky lyrics – take “For Your Love” for example: ‘Cause she don’t run ’round, run ’round, run ’round/Well, I guess she do). However, the overall idea I get from the EP Morning  Spirits is that there’s a time to leave. That’s why this is the soundtrack you should listen to when you’re ready to stop making excuses and go for it.

It hits you immediately in the first song “High Again.” It’s lyrics come in rather quickly, but it’s worth the effort to look over the lyrics and listen carefully: So goodbye, I’m away, no one ever gonna make me stay/No one wants to leave their youth, it’s the sad part of the old Truth/The ones who learn to love can learn to fly again/If we’re already gone, how can we die again?

Those lyrics are paired with a constant, rolling drumbeat that makes you want to get up, get out and make your dreams come true. It is because of this that makes The Rosy Shades live up to their name. You’re left with an overwhelming feeling of inspiration – like you can take on the world with one arm tied behind your back.

Give ’em a listen here, especially if you need some inspiration to tackle a life-altering decision (or if you just want to hear some good music).
