Yellowcard has never disappointed me. With the news of a new album, there’s so much excitement and hype… which usually results in a ginormous letdown.
All of that to say that “Southern Air” lives up to the expectation. I got that impression with the song “Always Summer,” and I’m so happy to say that the rest of the album matches it.
“Here I am Alive” is a little (seriously, just a bit) dancier than the rest of the album. So it’s a little break, but still pairs well with the rest of the summer-esque sounds of the album.
A little bonus: there’s a little Star Wars reference in “Surface of the Sun,” which I won’t spoil – listen carefully.
Yellowcard fans will be very happy with this album. It’s classic Yellowcard sound and lyrics.
